Wonderful sunshine, blue skies and warm days are upon us. It soon will be too hot to play outside, but a great time to play inside; a perfect time to work on projects. We all know that weather has really nothing to do with our passion, but beautiful days seem to stir us on, lift up our spirits and clear our minds so we can focus on our creativity. Our focus this month will be starting the Seasonal Block of the Month. It runs for five months at $20.00/month and includes all your fabric for your top. Final size should be 72x72"; if you want to make it bigger you can add another patchwork border to finish to a queen at a cost of $23.00/month. Stop in and see the sample - it is a beautiful quilt with soft tones. We start on June 27th at 9:00AM with a short demo and goodies and continue every fourth Saturday of each month - keep up with the homework and you will have a finished top at the end of October. Keep it for yourself or give as a gift. You must pre-register for the BOM.
Kids Kamp starts on July 13th for four weeks from 10:30-12:30 on Monday, Wednesday-Friday (no Tuesdays). Kamp is open to all children ages 8 and up. We have some great projects lined up, so be sure to register early. Cost is $35.00/week; if more than one child per family the additional child/children would be half price. The fee includes all materials for class.
Ongoing:
First Fat Saturday - every first Saturday of every month, fat quarters are on sale. Buy 8 fat quarters and get 2 free - precuts only.
Stingers meets the third Tuesday of each month from 5:30-8:30. We just finished making bibs for individuals who are physically challenged and are now making stuffed bears and rabbits for children in crisis situations. What fun we are having and what a worthwhile project - come join us!
Open sew every Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 with the exception of the third Tuesday.
Civil War Group meets the last Monday of each month and we are just about half way through the battle. Some have kept up with the quilt as you go and others such as myself still have that journey to enjoy. We are all thoroughly enjoying the process, it's a history lesson and your never too old to learn.
If anyone is interested in an Applique Floral Block of the Month, please let me know and we will set one up. We have been discussing dimensional combined with traditional appliqué - a combination of different techniques.
All classes are open to all ages and all genders - you must pre-register for classes. Classes are listed on the class schedule and are also available on the website at www.thequiltingbee.net. Check out the classes available for July and August and join us - it's more fun to sew with others than to sew alone.
One last thing - we are always available to help with any project you may need assistance with; and if you are interested in a class that we are not offering, please let us know and we will fit it into the schedule.
See you all at the shop - keep the hands moving
